Critics Reviews

AMD’s Radeon R9 380X is an ideal replacement for the company's Radeon R9 380. Its performance places it right between Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 960 and 970. The only problem is that it's a bit late.
AMD Radeon R9 380X - the Digital Foundry verdict. There are two ways to look at the R9 380X. On the one hand, it offers a useful performance bump over the existing R9 380 - a card that already ...

The new Radeon R9 380X is a card I’ve been expecting for some time: there’s been a huge gap in AMD’s range since it released the R9 380 and the R9 390, which cost around £150 and £250 ...

This time the Radeon R9 380X was 2% slower than the R9 280X despite delivering a respectable 59fps. Although the R9 380X beat the R9 380 by a 9% margin, it was a whopping 29% slower than the R9 390.
With AMD opting to push the envelope there to maintain price/performance parity with the GTX 970, while the R9 380X is a fair bit slower than the R9 390, it saves a lot of power in the process.
