Leaves Amazon a few more options for refund and possible sanctions/charges filed for fraud.

i9-7980Xe worth it?Is it worth investing $ 2000 in a processor? My intention and use will be ...1. Play everything on the ultra, stream, record gameplays, and the gameplay will be in 2K or 4K.2. Editing videos and images for work.3. Creation of applications, virtual stores, and websites.4. Programming.I thought about the 1950x as well, however, the performance at stake is totally disheartening, and maybe it's worth the extra $ 1000.

The 16 cores of the 1950X is probably completely overkill for what you need to use it for. Unless you're doing some serious work with very specific programs, the 7980XE isn't going to be fully utilized (granted neither will the 1950X). I'd say the 1950X for literally half the cost is a much better option, considering the 1950X still isn't too far behind the 7980XE.Down the line...1. Uses 8 cores at best, 2k or 4k with either the 1950X or the 7980XE will be a walk in the park since higher resolutions are GPU bound2. A VERY specific few programs will be able to utilize more than 8 cores, and the scaling probably isn't amazing. 1950X and 7980XE on roughly equal terms here3. Depends on the application, but I doubt it uses more than 8 cores. 1950X and 7980XE are probably equal here.4. Once again, depends on the app used. I doubt core usage is over 8 cores. So really, for those sorts of applications, the 7980XE is maybe only marginally better at best than the 1950X at double the cost. If you have any programs that scale infinitely with cores, and actually does it well, the 7980XE might be a good buy, but at that rate you'd probably be looking towards Xeon instead.I can't really see a scenario where I wouldn't choose the 1950X over the 7980XE. The SLIGHTLY higher core clock on the 7980XE might make a small difference in gaming, but to be honest most games don't use more than 4 cores and a quad core processor would be better than either of them at gaming. EDIT: Paul's Hardware did a video testing the grand majority of the competitive CPUs in that bracket: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJziUkLpU74You'll notice that the 1950X is only marginally behind the 7980XE in most applications, but it costs half as much. Take that as you will.EDIT2: Do some research on your applications and see if you need anything more than 8 cores. Getting a 16 core processor for $1000 and not actually using all of the 16 cores seems like a waste to me, when you can get a Ryzen 7 1800X for half the cost and do just as well, if not better in some aspects.

@schoolsunkindness You need a customdesign Watercooler with a 360 Radiator. A high quality AIO like an alphacool Eisbär 360 RGb would work. but if you want to overlock that chip, that it runs with 18 x 4,6 GHZ allcore with aktive speed step and offset corevoltage 1,200+40MV. so that it runs stable with 18x 4,6 GHZ if you set the high energy profile in windows, you should think about delidding, liquid metall, direct ***** and a 360/45 EK Radiator or better 2x 360/30 Radiators withe Nb Eloops. but if you do that,18x 5 GHZ are very possible and together with a +3200MHz 64GB Quadchannel Ramkit with lower timings. Only than your CPU will perform as the mighty CPU that it is for real. Because if the skylake x are not settet optimaly, the performance seems to be a little bittoo low. Well settetwhich is not a problem, which should be with such a chip it is a imperial mighty chip. and this should be with a core I 9 7980XE. I use the 7900X and and one 360 Radiator. I can overlock good, the one 360 / 30 is .It works with 10x 4,9/ 5GHZ but i will put in a second 360 Radiator and my chip is delidded.

Personally I would recommend you to try an Corsair Hydro Series H100i or H110i Extreme Performance or something really strong to keep you i9 7980XE at stable and good temps if you want an aftermarker liquid cooler. I still rockin' an FX 4350 from AMD cooled by an Corsair Hydro Series H60 and it's better than an cheap liquid cooler like ID Cooling and Segotep.

Which Memory Speed for i9-7980XE?I am getting a i9-7980XE chip with the AsRock Tachi x299 motherboard. I am wondering what speed of memory I should get. Will 2666Mhz suffice or would something like 3200Mhz actually make a difference. I use calculating software that can use virtually all 32 of the i9's threads. I wondering how big an impact the memory speed will have. Should I pay extra for faster memory? Whilst I will overclock the i9, I have no intention of overclocking the memory

@sputterequilibrium Overlocking a 7980XE includes delidding and optimizing the heat transfer between ***** and heatspreader. Liquid metal is a performative option but a very good thermal paste like the arctic MX 4 or 5 optimaly " put" on the die, performs very well, too. in some cases better than liqid metall. I have a 7900X deliddet with the tool of der8auer, wich works perfectly, and i took Arctic Mx 5 to try this. And i was, am impressed how good this works. Maybe liquid metall will perform better, but for the moment my temperatures are better than the ordinary delidddet skylake x with liquid metall. And Ram oc? I would not try to overlock the ram. I would buy a Quadkit with 3200MHZ and 14 clocks timings settet by the XMP profile of this kit. the mesh ratio plays a role too. to set it to 33 is not bad. The coreclock should be 4,9-5,1 GHz with all cores. That means that you have to set the lowest voltage which is possible for a stable frequency. With a well deliddet and a customdesign loop 5 GHZ are possible with active speed step ....with a Chip which is not deliddet and which wasn´t great luck, you need a few massive radiators , with an normal 360 AIO you can forget that, 18x 5GHZ.

@addiebecome I would recommend a 3200MHZ Quad Kit 32 or 64 GB. But a kit which works witth lower, faster Ramtimings. more than 3200MHZ i would not recommend, but that it runs in quadchannel and that teh XMP Profile can set the faster timings the ram has, is necessary for a convincing performance in games and 3 d Mark benchmarks. Skylake X needs a very well settet system. Every single module has to run perfekt, or very good. Only than you feel the power that this CPU has. G.Skill Trident Z Royal gold DIMM Kit 16GB, DDR4-3200, CL14-14-14-34 would be a good option 2x 2 x8GB Modules.
