Overclock phenom ii x4 945 denebHello, I know a lot of people have ask this question, but I was looking for an answer for my hardware. I am new to overclocking and was wondering if I could get my cpu to at least 3.5. I have done the auto oc on v6 and v8 engines. On v6 it was stable at 3.3, but on v8 I was at 3.45 and getting wierd bsod errors. Nothing about overheating thoogh. Figured it was because I used auto. My temps where staying at around 41 deg at 3.3ghz v6 auto oc. Any help would be appreciated. Motherboard...biostar ta790gx a2+Cpu...phenom ii x4 945 denebCooler...deep cool gammaxx 400Ram...4x2gb g skill ddr2Gpu...gigabyte radeon rx460 4gb ocPsu...evga 500wThank you.

DRAM Frequency and NB Frequency is overclocked if you set to 234, so make sure they are reduced to what they can support. It is probably best to take a look at motherboard user's guide to be familiar with all the options in BIOS.

Phenom II X4 945Will the AMD Phenom II X4 945 with a Radeon 7870 be able to play Battlefield 4 and some other games (Far Cry 3, Crysis series, etc.)? Please help!

It can play games like Far Cry 3 and Crysis on high settings but I'm not certain about BF4 as the specs aren't out yet. It is a relatively decent system and should be able to run it on around medium imo.

Phenom II X4 945 OC CoolerI recently got an RX 480 to play some newer games like Forza Horizon, but my existing 945 is bottle necking it in those games. I'm running a stock cooler currently, and I've managed to overclock it to 3.5 ghz. Temps in game stay under 60 degrees, and max temp in Prime95 is 65.I won't be getting a new CPU and motherboard until the holidays so I was wondering if it's worth getting a Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO or the below cooler to try and push for higher clock speeds with higher voltages.https://www.amazon.com/DeepCool-Cooler-Heatsink-quiet-LGA775/dp/B00OLA0BOA/ref=zg_bs_11036281_11I'm running the 95W variant on a Biostar A780L3B

Getting a cooler isn't a bad idea, and you can probably reuse it later. The Cryorig H7 is a great unit, or the deepcool gamaxx 400, for something a bit cheaper. http://pcpartpicker.com/products/compare/93Crxr,hJFPxr/

AMD Phenom II x4 945 3GHz bottleneck R9 290 DD??I am yet to buy this graphics card and im looking at finance. I was going to get a massively better CPU delivered with the GPU but I think it would be better to find out if my current processor could handle the jump before I splash out on a new one.

I'm going with this. The PhII 945s I've had the pleasure to know seem to run 3.5GHz without too many problems -- that will help. And, I suspect the R9 290 would be a serious upgrade over your current card .... so, if you are feeling froggy, might as well jump.

best MoBo for AMD Phenom II x4 945hi there i"m looking to upgrade my MoBo and not quite sure what"s the best buy would be within budget At the moment i run Asus NARRA3 (the HP version which is pretty limited) i have just found out that the CPU apparently should not run on it cause of the low "W" input only W95 where as the CPU wants W125 but it went ok for the past 8 months or soalso have:Memory 2 x Samsung DDR2 PC2-6400 (400MHz) 1G2 x Geil DDR2 PC2-6400 (400MHz) 2GGraphicsAMD Radeon HD 6870 (looking to get another one for crossfire maybe)PSUXFX Pro850W CoolerTuniq Tower 120 Extreme CPU Cooler Rev1all in a cooler master cosmos full tower.Edit ----------------------------------------------------------------the reason why i"m looking for an upgrade is because i got an SSD and i cant set it up with this mobo because the bios is locked (cant set AHCI mode for it) + i do want to keep going up in specs in the future step by step+ everything that i got on the PC is relatively new compared to the mobo lol (it"s about 6.5 years old) and the rest of the stuff i got in the past year~ i only play World of Tanks and it"s going ok-ish 20~35 fps but i cant really do much on the 2nd display as it drops the fps a lil bit (running 27 inch monitor on HDMI and 19 inch monitor on DVI)

it's about time to ditch that ddr2 ram, it's almost 2015 and we're up to ddr4 now. i would suggest getting some cheap ddr3. that will require upgrading the motherboard as well... because you cannot put ddr2 ram in a ddr3 slot. however, your amd phenom 945 has a memory controller that can support either ddr2 or ddr3, just depends on the motherboard it is in.so motherboard i would suggest 970 chipset http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131873here is a good review on that mobo http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/printpage/ASUS-M5A97-R20-Motherboard/1772it has a 4+2 vrm setup so you will have no problem overclocking and overvolting that phenom cpu to extract every last bit of performance from that old betty (provided you have adequate cooling heatsink)you can find ddr3 666.5/1333 mhz ram real cheap, maybe even used on ebay. but if you do get used ram, make sure to run a memtest right after you get it while you can still return it if it's bad. but even then, new 1333 mhz ddr3 ram is cheap.$45 for 4 GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145322you can start off with 4 GB of ram to get your new system going at first, and then later buy another stick to take advantage of the dual channel memory controller that phenom cpu has to offeri got lucky not too long ago on craigslist, i bought a 4 GB stick of 1600 mhz ddr3 for $15. used of course, but as soon as i got home with it i ran a memtest and it checked out ok. was quite a stealgood luck with your build, if you only take one thing away from my post here: i highly advise you move away from ddr2 and get ddr3. because like you said that you want to slowly increase the specs, you want to get an am3+ board (so in the future you can get an fx cpu). the phenom cpu you have is an am3 socket cpu, but itll work in an am3+ socket moboedit: one more thing, that asus mobo i linked has an amd 850/950 southbridge chipset, which provides sata 6 Gb/s so you'll be able to take full advantage of the speeds from that ssd. as to the other person suggesting you return the ssd... nonsense. solid state storage is wonderful and i'll only ever use disk storage in a redundant raid array for archive and long term storage. always boot your OS from the fastest storage you have
