Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 TemperaturesSo i think my q6600 (G0) is running a bit hot but i'm not surei put it in about 3 weeks ago and have idle temps of about 40c and load of about 65this is all stock speeds (not the stock fan)I had a core 2 duo e6300 Overclocked to 2.66ghz with this same fan and as5 and had idle of 35 with load of about 60 so i find it odd that this is getting higher temps without any overclock. I've reseated and applied the paste about 5 times now and nothing different either.Looking around on google i see a lot of posts about changing the tjmax from 100 to 90 for the q6600 but i also see a bunch of posts saying that its not true. Also one of the cores (3rd one) seems to be about 8-10 degrees lower, which seems odd as well.

Tcase is 71°C for a G0 stepping: http://ark.intel.com/products/29765/Intel-Core2-Quad-Processor-Q6600-8M-Cache-2_40-GHz-1066-MHz-FSB It's best to keep it at 70°C or lower which is easy to achieve with a good aftermarket cooler.

Quad Q6600 CPU Cooler?Hi everybody,My name is Aleks. I'm the new one on this forum. So, if I'm breaking the rules in some way here please feel free to warn me.I have a Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor (which I don't know is "B3"or "G0" version) and universal Intel cpu cooler which I want to replace it with another one more powerful. I search on the internet and noticed DeepCool Fiend Shark cpu air cooler. But also on couple websites I've read that it's not enough powerful, so I don't know is worth to buy it for my processor. I want to buy this cooler because it's fits on mu standard ATX pc case and according to me it's decent with specifications who offer, but I'm not 100% sure. Can anybody tell me is it worth to by this cooler or should I choose another one. If it's that I want to buy powerful one for Quad Q6600 (NOTE: I don't want cooler for overclocking, but also I don't want cooler with low performances like DeepCool ALTA 7/Gammax 300 etc.) who will keep under 71 degrees. Any advice please.p.s. Sorry for my bad english!

Food for thought: You can get a Core2Quad Q9550 or 9650 for the price of a cooler for your Q6600, and it will both run cooler and perform significantly better than your Q6600. It's probably better to replace your CPU than to buy a cooler for it.

Core 2 Quad q6600 or Core 2 Duo e8400?I'm running an Optiplex 780 with 16gb of ram, a core 2 quad e8400 3 GHz and a GT 1030. I noticed that my gpu is majorly bottlenecking my gpu and I was wondering weather a quad core such as the q6600 2.4 GHz will keep up with my gpu or will the .6 GHz speed decrease also end up bottlenecking my gpu as well? If so, which core 2 quad would be suitable for my gpu?

Most games rely heavily on single-threaded performance. Trading frequency for extra cores may hurt more often than it helps. If you really want to upgrade that computer, see if its motherboard supports the Core 2 Quad 9650. Personally, I'd save for a Ryzen 1200 platform upgrade instead of spending money on a 10 years old Core 2. (I would consider the i3-8100 too if B/H-series motherboards were available but those aren't coming 'till next year.)

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Overclocking Help. So, I am having a thought of overclocking my CPU since I do not have any money at all to be able to buy a new CPU. Do I have components which can handle 2.4hz? to 3.0hz? or 2.8hz? I am currently running on:CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.40hzMotherboard: ASUS P5N-E SLI RAM: 4GB DDR2 4x1gbGraphics: Nvidia GeForce 9500 GTOS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit If I am missing anything important, please tell me.

Yes, you didn't mention what CPU cooler you're using. To overclock a Q6600 you need a decent cooler, not the Intel one that comes with it. With sensible cooling it should do 3Ghz with hardly any effort or additional voltages.

I think Q6600 will run DOTA2 just fine as long as you have enough RAM and a good GPU.I would upgrade the RAM to 8GB and use GTX750Ti for GPU.Do not go higher than GTX750Ti, your Q6600 is a bottleneck to most new games for GPUs higher than GTX750Ti.For office daily works like microsoft office, Q6600 is more than enough.
