Best GPU for AMD Phenom II X6 1055TCurrently I have AMD Phenom II X6 1055T CPU with ATI Radeon HD6790 GPU and 450watt PSU. I'm thinking to upgrade my GPU because my current GPU can't pick up with newest games anymore. What's the best choice? I'm considering to buy R7 370, but my friend told me it'll cause bottleneck with my current CPU. Thanks!

The 370 is a good card and a bit faster/better then the 750Ti which is at the same price point. For a little more you can get into a gtx950

Replacing a Phenom II X6 1055THello,I bought 4 or 5 years ago a Phenom II X6 1055T, mainly because I was encoding video a lot.I was wondering what would be a much better replacement for gaming, without breaking the bank (knowing I will have to replace the mobo as well) - I want to play some games (COD type) but without being a hard core gamer thoughSame question for the graphic card: I "only" have right now a GT440. What would be a good choice pairing well with the recommended CPU at a reasonable price?

Overclock your CPU to what you can (3.2-3.6), then get yourself a HD7850.Your gaming performance will go through the roof. As you said, you aren't hardcore, this will be plenty. This is assuming your gaming performance is your only concern.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127663At $99 after rebate, this card is a ridiculous value. It tops the 6970 every time when overclocked while using less power. The 6970, as you may know, was a damn beast only a few years ago and released for $369. Also, the 7850 is nearly what new age consoles are using .

Upgrading motherboard for AMD Phenom II X6 1055TI have this processor on Gigabyte GA-870A-UD3 since late 2010 running Windows 7 professional. Everything seems to be running okay, as I am not into gaming, mostly internet, email, and programming in Java or Python in Eclipse environment. So do not really have problem with speed or anything. However, I do have an issue with this earlier revision of Gigabyte motherboard with USB 3.0. It has never worked stably, and I spent lots of time trying to resolve that and ultimately gave up, relying instead on external Sata port for backup media and so forth. But now, I really want to make USB 3.0 work, because I want to buy large capacity USB 3.0 external drive for backup. Right now the USB 3.0 works only I 2.0 mode with transfer speed too low for backing up several TB of data from internal SATA drives. My question are:1) Is it worth to upgrade the current motherboard to say AM3+, so I can still use the same CPU, and have a better chance of getting USB 3.0 to work.2) Or, since this system is 7 years older, is it time to buy AM4 motherboard and get the latest Ryzon cpu. DDR4 memory, and compatible video card? ( My current video card is Video Card is AMD Radeon HD 5500 Series.)3) Or, the solution is much simpler than that, such as get a new PCI USB 3.0 card? Although I am afraid that this earlier revision of Gigabyte motherboard has buggy USB 3.0 implementation, which may even impact added card performance.Thank you for your help and recommendations. Let me thank one more time that 7 years ago I did build this system using component recommendations from this forum.jhaveri

Get a pcie add in card. Pci is no longer used so you may want to get pcie instead if you ever may need it in the future. You never know and the cost is the same. A different component doesn't affect compatibility of another. They're not connected in anyway.

Phenom II x4 955 BE or Phenom II x6 1055tJudging by today' standard wich should I buy used.I know that there are better options out there but im stuck in AM3 platform. So the question would be, with is better for the value. Do games or CAD software actually uses six cores or a higher clocked x4 will perfomr better? Both processors cost exactly the same at the momentAnother question: How easy is to get 3.8ghz in both processors? do I need a bigger cooler or my Arctic a11 will do the job?Mother m4a785td-m EVO8 gb DDR3 1333PSU Thermaltake 500wttsTHANKS

Are the six cores unnecessary?Yes and no.Most programs and games don't use more than 4 cores at a time and unfortunately a program must be written with X number of cores in mind. Many games and programs simply won't make use of 6 cores. Some will, and those may run faster on that CPU but your higher clock frequency can help the 4 core cpu perform faster for most games/programs.
