Short answer is yes.Better answer is it depends a little on the game in question. Some game engines require very little from a PC. Others are quite demanding. The less demanding the game is on the CPU the more cycles the CPU will have to keep the GFX card happy. But ultimately you will want to replace the CPU with something with a bit more horsepower. The q9500 is pretty old, 6 years I think. A cheap option might be to look for a i5 2500k on the used market. Locally they sell for very cheap. Even at stock speeds this also very old CPU just crushes the q9500 and the 2500k is alot easier to overclock.

Intel core 2 quad q9500Hello..I have a intel core 2 quad q 9500,now I know that this cpu has 4 cores..it's a quad core cpu right..but lately I heared people saying that it has 4 threads too..On intel's site they say that it has only 4 cores..no threads in the specs..but some other sites and cpu-z on my pc says that it has 4 cores and 4 threads. So I dont really know now if it has threads or not..?

A core has one thread by default if it's functioning properly. So your CPU is 4 cores/4 threads.

Well for starters, the Xeon chip is the better option, but I don't know if your board supports it because you didn't specify the revision of the board as there are multiple boards with this model #
