Upgrading a core 2 duo e6750Hi! I have an intel core 2 duo e6750 and was wondering what LGA 775 processors can I buy to upgrade? I would primarily use it for gaming.

I think you should consider it.its up to you how to justify spending 500-1000.if you just play games an hour a day every other day, I think its wise not to. Then again it depends on your flow.If u have $1000 to work with then I would say its a good investment.you dont need to get the latest gear. but u want to get something that isnt going to cause you compatibility problems. you can play new games on old hardware. but your"s is fading fast.

intel 2 duo 2.66Ghz e6750 vs 3.33Ghz e8600I am thinking about upgrading my cpu. Would I see much difference between a 2.66GHz e6750 vs 3.33GHz e8600 CPU's? I am also putting an SSD drive in so I am wondering if it is worth my money & time to upgrade form 2.66 GHz to 3.33 GHzThanks

Intel Core 2 Duo E2180 to E6750I recently salvaged two HP desktop computers.I know they are pretty old !! One was an Intel Core 2 quad and the other was an Intel vPro E6750(PLGA775 socket). Only the former one was in full working condition. The later motherboard was damaged though the CPU seems to be working. I tested it on a friends PC. I have an old HP desktop lying in my store which I dusted off yesterday, installed windows 10 on it. Its specs are Intel Core 2 Duo E2180(LGA775 socket), 2GB RAM and 250GB HDD.So, is it possible to upgrade the CPU to E6750? I'm confused if the socket will be an issue or are they the same? Oh one more thing, don't know if this is relevant. The motherboard is an ECS Livermore8 v1.0.

Both are socket LGA775 and around the same vintage so technically it will fit in the motherboard. However, according to the documentation on HP http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01237572The motherboard does not list the E6750 as an upgrade option. I would stick it in the slot and see what happens.

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 vs Pentium 4 HT 3.6GHzHello, how does the Intel core 2 duo E6750 stack up against the Pentium 4 3.6GHz?I have a Pentium 4 HT 3.6 GHz with 512 KB L2 cache and 400 MHz FSB on Intel LGA 775 Socket. The refurbished Intel core 2 Duo is being offered at an amazing deal at Rs. 650:http://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B00JDW7AUE?keywords=core%202%20duo&qid=1449582682&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1Also, is it compatible with my board: MSI 915 gvm-v and RAM: Transcend 1GB 400MHZ DDR x2?Will it be speedier in operation. I use the computer for web browsing, typing, excel sheets, etc. No graphic intensive work.

Yeah, that board has a 915G chipset, so it's pretty much Pentium 4 or nothing. That board is so old it actually has an AGP slot, I didn't know those even existed for LGA775. In any case, you're pretty much stuck with your Pentium 4 unless you want to get a new motherboard, and new RAM as well.
