Our Verdict: With some tuning, the RTX 4070 makes the most sense for gamers with 4K monitors and it is better than RTX 4050 by a margin. Though serious gamers hardly play at 4k. For everyone else, especially those on 1080p or even 1440p monitors, the RTX 4050 could be the better value choice in the short term. The RTX 4070 is faster by 85% for 1440p gaming. However, RTX 4050 is still capable of producing more than 60 frames per second. For 1080p games, upgrading from RTX 4050 to RTX 4070 is not worth it if targeting 60 frames per second. In addition, taking into account the huge price difference between the two, the RTX 4050 is a winner. The price/performance ratio is much better for RTX 4050 .

The RTX 4080 might be the high-end flagship of the latest Ada Lovelace set of graphics cards, but their prices keep them out of the reach of most mid-range PC gamers. On the other hand, the RTX 4070 is closer to being reasonably affordable at a price tag of $ 599. Spec for spec, this RTX 4070 leapfrogs its direct predecessor, the RTX 3070, by boasting 30.5 % more fps.

The RTX 4070 has 12 GB RAM compared to the RTX 3070 's 8 GB video memory. In our synthetic benchmarks, the RTX 4070 blows past the RTX 3070, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti and, amazingly, even the RTX 3080 as well.

Fortunately, gaming performance was quite impressive. The RTX 4070 consistently delivers great frame rate increases over the RTX 3070, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti and it really justifies an upgrade. For 1080p Full HD, we were able to play Immortals of Aveum, Microsoft Flight Simulator, The Callisto Protocol, Remnant II, The Last of Us Part I at 69 fps to 93 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 78 fps.

For 1440p Quad HD, we were able to play Microsoft Flight Simulator, Forspoken, The Last of Us Part I, Atomic Heart, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor at 64 fps to 78 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 70 fps. For 2160p 4K, we were able to play Red Dead Redemption 2, Elden Ring, A Plague Tale: Requiem, Hogwarts Legacy, Halo Infinite at 63 fps to 66 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 65 fps.

After taking the time to fully test the Ada Lovelace graphics card inside the RTX 4050, we can say without a doubt that it continues the trend.

Spec for spec, this RTX 4050 leapfrogs its direct predecessor, the RTX 3050, by boasting 34.8 % more fps. The RTX 4050 has 8 GB RAM compared to the RTX 3050 's 4 GB video memory.

In our synthetic benchmarks, the RTX 4050 blows past the RTX 3050, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti and, amazingly, even the RTX 3060 as well. Fortunately, gaming performance was quite impressive.
