Our Verdict: With some tuning, the RTX 3090 makes the most sense for gamers with 4K monitors and it is better than RTX 2080 Ti by a margin. Though serious gamers hardly play at 4k. For everyone else, especially those on 1080p or even 1440p monitors, the RTX 2080 Ti could be the better value choice in the short term. The RTX 3090 is faster by 52% for 1440p gaming. However, RTX 2080 Ti is still capable of producing more than 60 frames per second. For 1080p games, upgrading from RTX 2080 Ti to RTX 3090 is not worth it if targeting 60 frames per second. The price/performance ratio is much better for RTX 3090 .

Spec for spec, this RTX 3090 leapfrogs its direct predecessor, the RTX 2080 Ti, by boasting 52.7 % more fps. The RTX 3090 has 24 GB RAM compared to the RTX 2080 Ti 's 11 GB video memory.

Fortunately, gaming performance was quite impressive. The RTX 3090 consistently delivers great frame rate increases over the RTX 2080 Ti and it really justifies an upgrade. Compared to its AMD 's closest rival, RX 6900 XT, the RTX 3090 was -1.4 % slower.

For 1080p Full HD, we were able to play Microsoft Flight Simulator, Immortals of Aveum, The Callisto Protocol, Remnant II, The Last of Us Part I at 70 fps to 92 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 80 fps. For 1440p Quad HD, we were able to play Microsoft Flight Simulator, The Last of Us Part I, Forspoken, Atomic Heart, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor at 62 fps to 83 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 73 fps.

For 2160p 4K, we were able to play Borderlands 3, Elden Ring, Halo Infinite, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, A Plague Tale: Requiem at 61 fps to 64 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 63 fps.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti

For 1080p Full HD, we were able to play The Last of Us Part I, Forspoken, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Atomic Heart, Halo Infinite at 60 fps to 76 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 70 fps.

For 1440p Quad HD, we were able to play Hogwarts Legacy, Dead Space, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, A Plague Tale: Requiem, F1 22 at 60 fps to 66 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 64 fps. For 2160p 4K, we were able to play Watch Dogs: Legion, Hitman 3, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Gears of War 5, Need For Speed: Heat at 60 fps to 64 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 62 fps.
