Our Verdict: With some tuning, the RTX 3080 Ti makes the most sense for gamers with 4K monitors and it is better than RTX 2080 by a margin. Though serious gamers hardly play at 4k. For everyone else, especially those on 1080p or even 1440p monitors, the RTX 2080 could be the better value choice in the short term. The RTX 3080 Ti is faster by 76% for 1440p gaming. However, RTX 2080 is still capable of producing more than 60 frames per second. For 1080p games, upgrading from RTX 2080 to RTX 3080 Ti is not worth it if targeting 60 frames per second. The price/performance ratio is much better for RTX 3080 Ti .

The RTX 3090 might be the extreme flagship of the latest Ampere set of graphics cards, but their prices keep them out of the reach of most high-end PC gamers. On the other hand, the RTX 3080 Ti is closer to being reasonably affordable at a price tag of $ 799. The RTX 3080 Ti is much more cheaper than the RTX 2080 Ti as it costs $ 799. Compare this to the RTX 2080 Ti, which came originally at a price of $ 1299. Meanwhile, the AMD closest equivalent card is the RX 6900 XT which costs $ 999.

Spec for spec, this RTX 3080 Ti leapfrogs its direct predecessor, the RTX 2080 Ti, by boasting 49.8 % more fps. The RTX 3080 Ti has 12 GB RAM compared to the RTX 2080 Ti 's 11 GB video memory.

Fortunately, gaming performance was quite impressive. The RTX 3080 Ti consistently delivers great frame rate increases over the RTX 2080 Ti and it really justifies an upgrade. Compared to its AMD 's closest rival, RX 6900 XT, the RTX 3080 Ti was -3.3 % slower.

For 1080p Full HD, we were able to play Microsoft Flight Simulator, Immortals of Aveum, The Callisto Protocol, Remnant II, The Last of Us Part I at 70 fps to 89 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 78 fps. For 1440p Quad HD, we were able to play Microsoft Flight Simulator, The Last of Us Part I, Forspoken, Atomic Heart, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor at 61 fps to 81 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 71 fps.

For 2160p 4K, we were able to play Elden Ring, Red Dead Redemption 2, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Halo Infinite, A Plague Tale: Requiem at 62 fps to 63 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 62 fps.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080

The good news is, with the release of the RTX 2080 Ti, the RTX 2080 's price is getting more discount. Spec for spec, this RTX 2080 leapfrogs its direct predecessor, the GTX 1080, by boasting 25.2 % more fps.

Fortunately, gaming performance was quite impressive. The RTX 2080 consistently delivers great frame rate increases over the GTX 1080, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti and it really justifies an upgrade. For 1080p Full HD, we were able to play Halo Infinite, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Atomic Heart, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Cyberpunk 2077 at 61 fps to 64 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 62 fps.

For 1440p Quad HD, we were able to play Total War: Warhammer III, Borderlands 3, Elden Ring, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, God of War at 61 fps to 67 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 64 fps. For 2160p 4K, we were able to play Resident Evil 4, F1 2019, World War Z, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Battlefield V at 61 fps to 67 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 64 fps.
