Our Verdict: At 1440p, GTX TITAN BLACK can hit 50-60 frames per second on pretty much everything at ultra, just without antialiasing, less ambient occlusion and turned down shadows. Whereas GTX 690 can hit 50-60 frames per second at maximum settings. Upgrading from GTX TITAN BLACK to GTX 690 is not recommended as it is less than 30% of improvement in performance. In general, a reasonable upgrade is between 30% and 50% or more to justify the purchase of new hardware. The price/performance ratio is much better for GTX 690 .

GTX 690 vs GTX TITAN BLACK with i7-2700K vs i7-4770K at 4K and ultra vs ultra settings

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 690 / i7-2700K

In terms of cost, pricing clearly is a genuine issue here and the price of GTX 690 is simply ridiculous. It is worth noting that the GTX 690 is a very power hungry card and requires a decent power supply unit. With current 2048 MB RAM, the GTX 690 can have serious memory-related bottlenecks in more modern games. It is important to know that GTX 690 's max load temperature is very high and might require custom cooling solutions. This combination between GTX 690 and Intel Core i7-2700K @ 3.50GHz has less than 8% bottleneck in many games and is perfect match to avoid FPS loss. This combination between GTX 690 and Intel Core i7-2700K @ 3.50GHz is a perfect match to avoid FPS loss. With current 2048 MB RAM, the GTX 690 can have very few memory-related bottlenecks in more modern games.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN BLACK / i7-4770K

In terms of cost, pricing clearly is a genuine issue here and the price of GTX TITAN BLACK is simply ridiculous. At 1440p, GTX TITAN BLACK can hit 50-60 fps on pretty much everything at ultra, just without antialiasing, less ambient occlusion and turned down shadows. It is worth noting that the GTX TITAN BLACK is a very power hungry card and requires a decent power supply unit. In terms of memory, the GTX TITAN BLACK 's 6144 MB RAM is more than enough for modern games and should not cause any bottlenecks. This combination between GTX TITAN BLACK and Intel Core i7-4770K @ 3.50GHz has less than 8% bottleneck in many games and is perfect match to avoid FPS loss. This combination between GTX TITAN BLACK and Intel Core i7-4770K @ 3.50GHz is a perfect match to avoid FPS loss.
