Our Verdict: The price of RX 6900 XT is ridiculous. With some tuning, the RX 6900 XT makes the most sense for gamers with 4K monitors and it is better than RTX 4060 by a margin. Though serious gamers hardly play at 4k. For everyone else, especially those on 1080p or even 1440p monitors, the RTX 4060 could be the better value choice in the short term. The RX 6900 XT is faster by 71% for 1440p gaming. However, RTX 4060 is still capable of producing more than 60 frames per second. For 1080p games, upgrading from RTX 4060 to RX 6900 XT is not worth it if targeting 60 frames per second. In addition, taking into account the huge price difference between the two, the RTX 4060 is a winner. The price/performance ratio is much better for RTX 4060 .

AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT

The RX 6900 XT is much more expensive than the RX 5700 XT as it costs a whopping $ 999. Compare this to the RX 5700 XT, which came originally at a price of $ 399. Meanwhile, the NVIDIA closest equivalent card is the RTX 3090 which costs $ 1499. Spec for spec, this RX 6900 XT leapfrogs its direct predecessor, the RX 5700 XT, by boasting 103.7 % more fps.

The RX 6900 XT has 16 GB RAM compared to the RX 5700 XT 's 8 GB video memory. Compared to its NVIDIA 's closest rival, RTX 3090, the RX 6900 XT was 1.5 % faster.

Fortunately, gaming performance was quite impressive. The RX 6900 XT consistently delivers great frame rate increases over the RX 5700 XT and it really justifies an upgrade. For 1080p Full HD, we were able to play Microsoft Flight Simulator, Immortals of Aveum, The Callisto Protocol, Remnant II, The Last of Us Part I at 70 fps to 91 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 79 fps.

For 1440p Quad HD, we were able to play Microsoft Flight Simulator, The Last of Us Part I, Forspoken, Atomic Heart, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor at 61 fps to 81 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 72 fps. For 2160p 4K, we were able to play Elden Ring, Cyberpunk 2077, Godfall, Halo Infinite, A Plague Tale: Requiem at 62 fps to 63 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 63 fps.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060

The RTX 4060 Ti 8 GB might be the high-end flagship of the latest Ada Lovelace set of graphics cards, but their prices keep them out of the reach of most mid-range PC gamers. On the other hand, the RTX 4060 is closer to being reasonably affordable at a price tag of $ 299. NVIDIA ’s xx60 cards have always been defined by mid-range prices with performance that knocks on the door of high-end graphics cards – especially when overclocked. After taking the time to fully test the Ada Lovelace graphics card inside the RTX 4060, we can say without a doubt that it continues the trend.

Spec for spec, this RTX 4060 leapfrogs its direct predecessor, the RTX 3060, by boasting 15.6 % more fps. Compared to its AMD 's closest rival, RX 7600, the RTX 4060 was 0.099999999999994 % slower.

For 1080p Full HD, we were able to play Forspoken, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Atomic Heart, Halo Infinite, Hogwarts Legacy at 62 fps to 69 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 65 fps. For 1440p Quad HD, we were able to play Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Total War: Warhammer III, Marvel's Avengers, Metro Exodus, Cyberpunk 2077 at 61 fps to 65 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 64 fps.

For 2160p 4K, we were able to play Resident Evil 2, Far Cry 5, Resident Evil 4, Far Cry New Dawn, Death Stranding at 62 fps to 65 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 64 fps.
