Our Verdict: Upgrading from RX 470 to RX 570 is not recommended as it is less than 30% of improvement in performance. In general, a reasonable upgrade is between 30% and 50% or more to justify the purchase of new hardware. The price/performance ratio is much better for RX 570 .

AMD Radeon RX 570

The RX 580 might be the mid-range flagship of the latest GCN 4.0 set of graphics cards, but their prices keep them out of the reach of most entry-level PC gamers. On the other hand, the RX 570 is closer to being reasonably affordable at a price tag of $ 169. AMD ’s xx70 cards have always been defined by entry-level prices with performance that knocks on the door of mid-range graphics cards – especially when overclocked. After taking the time to fully test the GCN 4.0 graphics card inside the RX 570, we can say without a doubt that it continues the trend.

Spec for spec, this RX 570 leapfrogs its direct predecessor, the RX 470, by boasting 12.7 % more fps. Fortunately, gaming performance was quite impressive. The RX 570 consistently delivers great frame rate increases over the RX 470 and it really justifies an upgrade.

Compared to its NVIDIA 's closest rival, GTX 1060 3GB, the RX 570 was -6.4 % slower. For 1080p Full HD, we were able to play Spider-Man Remastered, Fallout 76, Overwatch 2, Apex Legends, Battlefield V at 60 fps to 71 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 64 fps.

For 1440p Quad HD, we were able to play Valorant at 98 fps to 98 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 98 fps. For 2160p 4K, we were able to play Valorant at 85 fps to 85 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 85 fps.

AMD Radeon RX 470

The RX 480 might be the mid-range flagship of the latest GCN 4.0 set of graphics cards, but their prices keep them out of the reach of most entry-level PC gamers. On the other hand, the RX 470 is closer to being reasonably affordable at a price tag of $ 179. AMD ’s xx70 cards have always been defined by entry-level prices with performance that knocks on the door of mid-range graphics cards – especially when overclocked. After taking the time to fully test the GCN 4.0 graphics card inside the RX 470, we can say without a doubt that it continues the trend.

Spec for spec, this RX 470 leapfrogs its direct predecessor, the R7 370, by boasting 79.9 % more fps. The RX 470 has 4 GB RAM compared to the R7 370 's 2 GB video memory.

In our synthetic benchmarks, the RX 470 blows past the R7 370 and, amazingly, even the R9 380 as well. Compared to its NVIDIA 's closest rival, GTX 960, the RX 470 was 39.2 % faster.

Fortunately, gaming performance was quite impressive. The RX 470 consistently delivers great frame rate increases over the R7 370 and it really justifies an upgrade. For 1080p Full HD, we were able to play Battlefield V, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, Resident Evil 2, Strange Brigade, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 at 62 fps to 69 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 66 fps.

For 1440p Quad HD, we were able to play Valorant at 87 fps to 87 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 87 fps. For 2160p 4K, we were able to play Valorant at 76 fps to 76 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 76 fps.

RX 570 vs RX 470 with i7-7700K vs i7-6700K at 1080p and ultra vs ultra settings
RX 570 vs RX 470 with i7-7700K vs i7-6700K at 1440p and ultra vs ultra settings
RX 570 vs RX 470 with i7-7700K vs i7-6700K at 4K and ultra vs ultra settings

AMD Radeon RX 570 / i7-7700K

For the most part, the RX 570 is still capable of playing modern games, but you would have to reduce settings to sustain those higher framerates. If keeping graphics quality settings closer to ultra or high is important, there are a few options for upgrades. It appears that the RX 570 is a more capable mid-range card that can play AAA titles at 1080p with 60 frames per second. The price/performance ratio is excellent for RX 570 against the competition in budget mid-range cards. With current 4096 MB RAM, the RX 570 can have very few memory-related bottlenecks in more modern games.

I have seen quite some people saying that it wont but other tests have shown that the gpu is at 60% usage and the cpu is at 100% usage on bf1 and gta v. Ive pretty much finished my bulid except the gpu. I want to use this for at least 2 years and want to play games at 1080p high 50-60 fps please suggest a gpu or tell if the rx 570 will bottleneck or not.

Absolutely fine pairing with a RX 570 mate - honestly.Bottlenecks are talked about too much , with bf1 & GTA v you've picked 2 titles than can rape CPU usage (especially bf1 multiplayer) but that doesn't mean you'll get sub par performance at the end of the day.You nay drop to mid 40s at times in a few CPU intensive titles , that's still not unplayable & is testament to what a good chip the 3470 still is - this thing is near 6 years old now remember & was only a mid ranger on release !!

Hello, I recently checked out this review about the 570 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOng3RF_q9I and I saw that its 25% less efficient than 470 for a small increase in performance (~5%). When I checked the comments, some people were saying that if you undervolt it and overclock it it's worth it. Is this true? Should I give 10 more euros for the 570 or get a 470? At what price difference is the 570 better value than the 470?

570 is 10% faster and uses about 40% more power under max load than 470. If you thinking of being future proof, get the 8GB version or the 1060 6GB even if you have to wait a few more weeks.RX 470 = 85W https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/189090/msi-rx470-4096-161103RX 570 = 120W https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/193248/msi-rx570-4096-1704121060 6GB = 120W (20% faster than 570) https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/186007/nvidia-gtx1060-6144-160609

I'm in the market for a new GPU rn since my r9 fury gave up and died on me after just 1 year of use and I can't claim the warranty on it since I bought it from the Amazon global storeI found 2 ad listings for the gpus mentioned in the title and have the people selling them are basically asking for the same price so could someone tell me which card I should spring for?Note:I want an amd card since I have a freesync monitor and don't have the money for a rx480/580 since they're still crazy pricey in my country

If they are around the same price, go for the 470 8GB version. You can apply an OC to the card to get to the clocks, or close to the clocks (it depends how lucky you are), of the nitro+ if you really want the slight performance increase. The 8GB will keep your video card relevant for longer if you plan on holding onto it. The 570 is only about 5% faster than the 470. They are pretty much identical except for the clock speeds.

Hello everyone,I'm looking to help my friend get an affordable gpu upgrade for him by selling him my R9 380 4gb Sapphire Nitro edition for $100-$120 USD. He basically has to keep his costs under $150 and is really happy with me offering him my current gpu.As a replacement I'm looking to the new Rx 500 series cards or possibly it's close performing predecessor the Rx 400 series. I'm interested in the Rx 470 and 570 mostly. Particularly with how cheap they can become. I figure I can keep my costs down in my upgrade if I go with these cards. I know the Rx 480 is a great performer, but I want to know if I should consider a 470/570 if I can snag one for a good price. Currently I'm seeing the 570 about $30 USD cheaper than the 580 and the story is mostly the same for the 400 series variants.I'm wondering if the Rx 470/570 are worth considering as a potentially better price to performance card, or if the Rx 480/580 are just superior in both performance and price to performance.

Sorry. I don't know why I thought you had a 390 instead of a 380. In that case it will be a more noticeable upgrade. I personally would go with a 480 or 580. The 580 is obviously the best card out of the ones you mentioned but it's going to be tough to find it at a good price until stock catches up with demand.

Hi everyone, I'm planning to put together this computer and I'd like to know which video card I should get between rx570 4G from msi or rx 470 4G from either asus or Sapphire technology nitro. I'm buying from Amazon Italy and the 570 costs 50 euros more (which is something like 54 dollars) and I have no idea what's the difference between the two cards or if it's worth spending that much more for the 570. The computer configuration is as follows :CPU: ryzen 1600MOBO : Asus b350 plus Ram: corsair vengeance lpx 2x8 GB 3200mhz CL16Storage : Crucial ssd mx300 525 GBPsu: Corsair CX550M semi-modularCase : Corsair carbide 100R Silent Edition (mid tower atx) And I need your help for the video card.. Use of the computer will be mostly music production but I'd like to be able to play some titles in FHD as I have a monitor Samsung S27C350H 1920x1080 27", especially stuff like flight simulators or world of WarcraftWith the rx570 I would be spending a little bit too much but if it's worth it (meaning that the 470 can't give me what I need) I could spend that extra money.. Or if you have any other advice for a video card that would fit my requirements that I could get from Amazon Italy let me know Thanks a lot, hope you guys can help me out

The RX 570 is just an overclocked RX 470. I don't think it's worth the 50 more.
