AMD Radeon RX 470

The RX 480 might be the mid-range flagship of the latest GCN 4.0 set of graphics cards, but their prices keep them out of the reach of most entry-level PC gamers. On the other hand, the RX 470 is closer to being reasonably affordable at a price tag of $ 179. AMD ’s xx70 cards have always been defined by entry-level prices with performance that knocks on the door of mid-range graphics cards – especially when overclocked. After taking the time to fully test the GCN 4.0 graphics card inside the RX 470, we can say without a doubt that it continues the trend.

Spec for spec, this RX 470 leapfrogs its direct predecessor, the R7 370, by boasting 79.9 % more fps. The RX 470 has 4 GB RAM compared to the R7 370 's 2 GB video memory.

In our synthetic benchmarks, the RX 470 blows past the R7 370 and, amazingly, even the R9 380 as well. Compared to its NVIDIA 's closest rival, GTX 960, the RX 470 was 39.2 % faster.

Fortunately, gaming performance was quite impressive. The RX 470 consistently delivers great frame rate increases over the R7 370 and it really justifies an upgrade. For 1080p Full HD, we were able to play Battlefield V, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, Resident Evil 2, Strange Brigade, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 at 62 fps to 69 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 66 fps.

For 1440p Quad HD, we were able to play Valorant at 87 fps to 87 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 87 fps. For 2160p 4K, we were able to play Valorant at 76 fps to 76 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 76 fps.

On the other hand, the GTX 950 is closer to being reasonably affordable at a price tag of $ 159. NVIDIA ’s xx50 cards have always been defined by budget prices with performance that knocks on the door of entry-level graphics cards – especially when overclocked. After taking the time to fully test the Maxwell 2.0 graphics card inside the GTX 950, we can say without a doubt that it continues the trend.

The GTX 950 is much more expensive than the GTX 750 as it costs a whopping $ 159. Compare this to the GTX 750, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti, which came originally at a price of $ 119, $ 149. Meanwhile, the AMD closest equivalent card is the RX 460 which costs $ 140. Compared to its AMD 's closest rival, RX 460, the GTX 950 was 7.9 % faster.

For 1080p Full HD, we were able to play Valorant at 61 fps to 61 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 61 fps.

so, I play minecraft and some other games on my pc I have a rx 470 and a i5 6500, And my friend has a GTX 950 and a i5 6500. So, in minecraft he gets around 400-600 fps while I get 200-400 with the newist drivers for the MSI RX 470. So yeah if any one can tell me how to fix my fps problem thnx!

The 470 is the better card. As to why this is happening, it's hard for me to say without knowing every detail of game and computer. For instance, maybe you run at higher settings than he does and with more mods? Maybe your computer has many unnecessary processes running in the background while his computer is tuned for gaming?You can start by testing your computer. Run some benchmarks to make sure you are getting the performance your CPU/GPU combo should be giving you. Don't use Minecraft as a benchmark.

If its an absolute choice between the two then 100% the 6100 & rx 470.

So I'm looking to build a bunch of gaming pc's for a internet cafe im due to open in a few weeks but am a little stuck on what to do now that the rx460 and rx470 are due to come out also in the next few weeks I was originally going to go with the gtx950 because they fit my budget but now I'm not sure if u should get the rx460 hoping it will be on par with the gtx950 and cheaper or should I go a little over budget and get the rx470 in doing so furture proof my builds for a good few years and have the best by far gaming build internet cafe in the city where i am opening or should I just stick to the gtx950's ? I should also add i live in Thailand so most the gaming cafes out here have really low end builds and even if u want with the gtx950 I would still have a better build then any of the internet cafes in my city

I came here to ask the same thing. I purchased a GTX 950 to play No Mans Sky when it releases, but haven't opened it yet. I saw that RX 470 and 460 were being announced this week, so I'm trying to make the same decision. I could return the 950 now and wait to find one, but then I have to decide on the 470 vs 460. Hoping for some benchmarks soon. I don't have time to game much, but want to be able to when I have time, though idle power draw is a primary concern for me. The 460 not needing additional power may be a plus for me.
