Core2 Duo E8300
  • The Core2 Duo E8300 is more power efficient and generates less heat.
i5-10600K
  • The i5-10600K has higher Level 2 Cache. Data/instructions which have to be processed can be loaded from the fast L2 and the CPU does not have to wait for the very slow DDR RAM
  • The i5-10600K has more cores. The benefit of having more cores is that the system can handle more threads. Each core can handle a separate stream of data. This architecture greatly increases the performance of a system that is running concurrent applications.
  • The i5-10600K has more threads. Larger programs are divided into threads (small sections) so that the processor can execute them simultaneously to get faster execution.
  • For some games, a cpu with a higher clock speed, or in a technical name IPC (Instructions per clock), has better results than other CPU's with higher core count and lower core speed.
  • The i5-10600K has a higher turbo clock boost. Turbo Boost is a CPU feature that will run CPU clock speed faster than its base clock, if certain conditions are present. It will enable older software that runs on fewer cores, to perform better on newer hardware. Since games are software too, it is also applicable to them.
  • The i5-10600K has a smaller process size. The faster a transistor can toggle on and off, the faster it can do work. And transistors that turn on and off with less energy are more efficient, reducing the operating power, or “dynamic power consumption,” required by a processor.

It might run at a much lower resolution, with 30FPS, but it won't run super well, no. Depends on how well you want it to perform, but if you want over 30 FPS or even over 20 FPS at any sort of resolution, it won't do you much good I'm afraid.

Core 2 Duo e6600 vs e8300Hello everyone,I have two processors at the moment. An intel core 2 duo e6600 and an e8300.My mobo (ASrock gm41 vs3 2.0 with 2x 2gb ddr3 1333mhz will allow me to overclock the e6600 to 3,06ghz without messing with the voltages (which i want to keep it that way) and the e8300 overclocked to 2.9ghz. temperatures of the e6600 are between 24 celsius and 33 celsius at heavy gaming. E8300 is 37 celsius between 44 celsius. The e8300 will allow me to use the full 1333mhz ram while the e6600 downgrades it to 1066. Also i have a geforce gt630 msi 2gb version.Which processor should i keep and why? I only use this pc for gaming and nothing else. Gta 4 is the most demanding game i have and all my other games are from 2006 to 2010. Im not planning on buying new games since i mainly game on consoles and i have windows xp 32bit.

The performance between them is so close that it doesnt matter; so pick one and go with it and sell the other.
