For things like watching youtube it would help to upgrade to that CPU, though not as much for games since that mostly depends on the graphics card though it may help with emulators since there refrencing older games, I think it is a good choice. Everything should line up in compatibility as well.

Will the i3-3250 be sufficient? To get this out of the way my current specs:GPU : MSI Gaming GTX 760CPU : Intel Pentium G2030 3Ghz Dual Core No Hyper-Threading LGA 1155RAM : 8GB DDR3 1300MhzPSU : Seasonic 520W 80+ BronzeScreen : 1280x1024 (Upgrading to a 1080p soon)OS : Windows 8.1 64bitOk so my problem is quite obviously my CPU. My friend who has an identical build besides the CPU which is a 3770k get a huge difference in framerate in games. Now as my CPU is not hyper-threaded would getting something like a Intel i3-3250 help at all with framerates? I would get something like an i5-3340 but money is somewhat of an issue, my price range is around the standard price of the i3 at around $140/£90. Would a good option be to rather save up for an i5 of sorts? Or to get the i3-3250? Will hyper-threading affect my framerate much or will 4 solid cores be better? When I play Battlefield 4 for example on a 64player map, I will get a somewhat decent framerate on mixed Medium/High settings but I get frequent frame spikes and drops that are just too much to deal with.Any and all information is appreciatedThanks

Forget the i3 and hyper-threading, get an i5. You will see same framerates as you friend with i7.

Upgrading i3 3250I've got a question, is it worth upgrading my i3 3250?GTX 770 2gb2x4GB ddr3 ramASRock Z77 Extreme4 motherboard (lga 1155)I'm thinking about buying an i5 6600k, but for that I'll have to buy a new motherboard, so is it worth it? If yes, what motherboard should I buy?

jvdb08 Hello. FYI: I consider the baseline for any gaming computer to be an Intel Pentium G4560 CPU and an AMD RX 470. With this minimum spec in mind, and being aware of the GPU shortage due to the cryptominers, here is what I would do in your situation:sell used i3-3250 (~$50 - $60)sell used gtx 770 (~$100)buy used i5-3330 or i5-3570 (~$50 - $60)buy new gtx 1060 6gb ($250)Summary: When all is said and done, you should only be out-of-pocket about $150 USD.noteshttps://www.ebay.com/sch/Computer-Components-Parts/175673/i.html?LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&_from=R40&_nkw=i3-3250&LH_PrefLoc=1&rt=nc&LH_ItemCondition=3000&_trksid=p2045573.m1684https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&_nkw=gtx%20770&rt=nc&LH_PrefLoc=1&_trksid=p2045573.m1684https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=i5+3330&LH_PrefLoc=1&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&_osacat=175673&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H1.X%28i5+3330%2Ci5+3570%29.TRS1&_nkw=%28i5+3330%2Ci5+3570%29&_sacat=175673https://www.evga.com/products/productlist.aspx?type=8&family=GeForce+10+Series+Family&chipset=GTX+1060+6GBhttp://www.cpu-world.com/Sockets/Socket%201155%20(LGA1155).htmlhttp://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Pentium-G4560-vs-Intel-Core-i3-3250/3892vsm4950http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-3330-vs-Intel-Core-i5-3570/m10vsm793

best motherboard for i3-3250Hello all. As the title states, I'm looking for a motherboard that would run an i3-3250 CPU. Socket is LGA1155. I'm not super-extremely knowledgeable about computers; I know a lot of basic stuff and a little more than basic. Boil it down, I just don't know what features/options I need to look for in a mobo. My budget would be <$110. I haven't bought the CPU yet, and it's one that I just picked out because it seemed to be good enough. My current CPU (the one I'm using to write this) is a Pentium 4 3.2ghz, so any upgrade would significantly improve my performance. My end goal is to play games with it, but I'm not a graphiphile. I like playing games smoothly more than i care about playing on SUPERULTRAEXTREMEHARDCORESHINY setting.I'm not necessarily looking for people to post links to products that they think would be good although that would be appreciated. I would also like for people to tell me stuff like "ooh stay away from boards that have this because blah" or "get boards that have blah because blah. If you think I should look into getting a different CPU, feel free to comment on it. Any and all help would be appreciated.

Just a minor correction...The Core i3-3250 is a 3rd generation Ivy Bridge CPU (socket 1155). It is not a 4th generation Haswell CPU (socket 1150).
