    There are THREE i7-4770 model processors:i7-4770K (Unlocked Multiplier so you can OverClock)TDP = 84Watts @ 3.5GHzi7-4770 (Regular version - No Overclocking)TDP = 84Watts @ 3.4GHzi7-4770S (Lower power, cooler, lower clock speed, no overclocking)TDP = 65Watts @ 3.1GHz

Not as much, no. The boards we have recommended above better fit your needs. You don't need a Z97 motherboard because you won't be overclocking.

Used I7 4770s vs i7-8700Hello so I'm planning on buying either new or used pcI can buy used I7 4770s with 16gb of 1600mhz ram128ssd and 1t hddMobo: H81m-e33 and some caseEverything would cost 430 or 520 with gtx 680. Not sure if I Should take 680 for 90 since I plan on buying gtx 1060 or 1070Or I could build a new pc with i7-8700 but the total would be around 900 eur. Thats 2 times the price. Which should I go for? I understand that the new intel should be around 50% faster? Will I see the difference in gaming?PLanning on playing on 1080p only. 1440p to expensive

Ryzen build example: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/WtQs9W(CPU is 6C/12T... I wouldn't go any lower than the R5-1400 which is a 4C/8T CPU similar to the i7-4770s though the i7-4770s is slightly faster. be sure to overclock Ryzen as best as you can. guides online)Just FYI, but the Intel build being "50% faster" is very use-case specific. That's for 1080p gaming, in SOME games where you are comparing the new 8th gen Intel clocked to about 5GHz vs other CPU's.The PROBLEM with this is that to buy the Intel parts, good COOLER that gets such an overclock will cost more than the cheaper CPU's so now you have less money for a graphics card.So it's 50% in some situations where MONEY is no object, but it's not comparable otherwise. For most games you're better off putting as much money as possible towards the Graphics Card and let the other parts be reasonably good quality. In general, it's better to buy NEW with a WARRANTY.AMD RYZEN motherboards (AM4 socket) should be around for several years to come, but a motherboard for the i7-4770s may be almost impossible to find in a few years.AMD has strongly suggested that ZEN2 should work on AM4 thus giving an upgrade path to an 8C/16T ZEN2 CPU.SUMMARY:I tried to give some example partial and full builds so you can play around with the numbers and make a decision.

i7 4770S temperatures with stock coolerHiThe temperatures of my i7 4770s idle/low load (<=4%, eg: browsing) are from 43-49C after a BIOS update. Before the BIOS update the temps were about 47-53 C. Also after BIOS update the turbo is limited to 3500 Mhz reducing the heat to about 82C vs 92C on full load using Prime95 in ~1-2mins.When playing a game the temps goes around 60-70C.I am using the integrated graphics too.I have an ASUS Z87-C motherboard. I am using the stock fan. Those temps are normal for 4770S (notice the S)?.

yes sadly they are normal temps for the stock intel HSF.personally with any high end CPU (like i5 or i7) i alway spend a bit extra and get a good after market HSF. it keep the cpu cooler, makes your pc running better and helps you get a longer life out off your CPU.

Asus H87M-Plus and i7-4770SI'm planning a build around the Asus H87M-Plus and I7-4770S chip. This will be a fanless PC using NoFan CS-60 and CR-95C cooler.I have a pair of Samsung 840Pro SSDs that I plan on running RAID 0.I also plan on using the internal video to drive a 30 inch monitor in 2560 x 1600 mode. (This is not a gaming PC. I will use it as a Digital Audio Workstation DAW).Does anyone see any problems with my configuration?ThanksKeith
