i5-4440S
  • The i5-4440S has higher Level 2 Cache. Data/instructions which have to be processed can be loaded from the fast L2 and the CPU does not have to wait for the very slow DDR RAM
  • The i5-4440S has a higher turbo clock boost. Turbo Boost is a CPU feature that will run CPU clock speed faster than its base clock, if certain conditions are present. It will enable older software that runs on fewer cores, to perform better on newer hardware. Since games are software too, it is also applicable to them.
i3-12300
  • The i3-12300 has higher Level 3 Cache. This is useful when you have substantial multiprocessing workloads, many computationally intense simultaneous processes. More likely on a server, less on a personally used computer for interactive desktop workloads.
  • The i3-12300 has more threads. Larger programs are divided into threads (small sections) so that the processor can execute them simultaneously to get faster execution.
  • For some games, a cpu with a higher clock speed, or in a technical name IPC (Instructions per clock), has better results than other CPU's with higher core count and lower core speed.
  • The i3-12300 is more power efficient and generates less heat.
  • The i3-12300 has a smaller process size. The faster a transistor can toggle on and off, the faster it can do work. And transistors that turn on and off with less energy are more efficient, reducing the operating power, or “dynamic power consumption,” required by a processor.

the S variant is a lower TDP version 65W < 84W, but I recommend the simple version from these two.

i5 4440S Upgrade for video editingI'm currently using an i5 4440s in my machine on a ecs h87h3-m motherboard with 16GB of ripjaws RAM. I'm thinking about upgrading the CPU because rendering video takes too long for me, and I generally think it's time for an upgrade. I was considering going with either the i7 4790K or 6700K. As I understand it, I'd have to upgrade my MOBO and RAM as well with these, so would I get a significant difference with the 6700K compared to the 4790K? Thanks.

You'd get more performance from the 6700k but likely not so much to justify the cost of a new cpu, mobo and ram (along with a cooler if you don't have an aftermarket cooler). The i7 6700k doesn't come with a stock cooler. You'd be better off with the 4790k I think for the price, just make sure to update your bios to make sure your board will support the newer i7.It may depend on the software you use, here's a comparison of the 4790k and 6700k using premier pro. Not much difference.https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Haswell-vs-Skylake-S-i7-4790K-vs-i7-6700K-641/#CPUPerformance-PremiereProCCHandbrake and x.264 are also very similar between the two.http://techreport.com/review/28751/intel-core-i7-6700k-skylake-processor-reviewed/10

i5 4440S bottleneck GTX 1060 OCI have no plans to upgrade my monitor to 1440p or further. I'm just sitting at 1080p planning to buy a GTX 1060, will it bottleneck in games at ultra on 1080p.Games to be considered: PUBG, GTA V, Ghost Recon Wildlands, NFS payback, COBO2, CODBO3, CODAW, CODIW...etcPc specs: i5 4440S stock 2.8 GHz and turbo 3.3 GHz, 8 GB DDR3 1333 MHz RAM, GTX 1060 custom OC

There may be a slight bottleneck according to this chart: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Q7lIYRK5T0ABLvAkgbM_2jJGvbhlep27mR-eRcCy4FA/edit#gid=0What games exactly, I did not research. PUGB is not very well optimized, the rest should be all right.

i5 4440S performance in gaming?Alright, so I was searching for i5 processors (for gaming) and I stumbled across the 4440S. I found a deal on it for $140. Should I get it or should I save up for something more powerful? I plan on using it with the r9 280x. Will it be able to run most current games and future ones?

With an i5 4440S the max is 3.3Ghz on one core, if stressing all 4 it wont boost. Try rerunning with a single thread instead of 4 and see if it boosts.https://ark.intel.com/products/75040/Intel-Core-i5-4440S-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_30-GHz
