i5 2300 TO i5 3470 is it worth an upgrade? Is it worth an upgrade if i don't want to upgrade my motherboard. Or what would be the best upgrade if i don't want to upgrade my motherboard? BTW right now i have i5 2300, will it bottleneck my gtx 1060 3gb?Thanks in advance

Both the i5 2300 and i5 3470 will bottleneck that GTX 1060. The i5 3470 will indeed be an upgrade, but still will bottleneck it. What motherboard do you have? If the i5 3470 is your best upgrade, then it might just be best to get a new motherboard.

no; second gen i5 still passes most FX-series AMD and only incrementally slower than a 3rd or 4th gen. should be a sweet combo.

i5-2300 and Gtx 770 4GB bottleneckingJust a question I want to ask about my friend's gaming rig. Would an Intel i5-2300 @2.80 GHz bottleneck the performance of an Nvidia Gtx770 4Gb? And if it does, what would the result be on fps and performance in games or certain games? My friend plays on a standard 60Hz 1080p display and has 8 GB ddr3 RAM, if that info helps.

In that case, I don't know. A brief search online shows that you could probably upgrade to an I7-2600. There is a slim chance that you could upgrade to an I7-3770 without a BIOS update, but I sincerely doubt it.Not sure if you'll be able to find anything worth the cost for under $100.-Wolf sends

amd r9 390 with Intel i5 2300?hello, I am upgrading my prebuilt HP pc that is from around 2011 (keeping CPU, motherboard, HDD, keyboard, mouse and monitor) and I found a pretty good deal on the r9 390 and I went for it, as I am now waiting for it to arrive, I want to ask, will my old i5 2300 processor bottleneck this graphics card? If it matters my specs will be the following:-Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H-Intel core i5 2300-Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB 1333MHz-Sapphire AMD r9 390 8GB-Seagate 500GB 7200 RPM HDD-EVGA 750W B2 -CoolerMaster N600 CaseAnd I will be keeping my HP 2311x 1080p monitor

It may on some games but should be fine on the majority. I would have no concern.
