Phenom II X4 910
  • The Phenom II X4 910 has higher Level 2 Cache. Data/instructions which have to be processed can be loaded from the fast L2 and the CPU does not have to wait for the very slow DDR RAM
  • The Phenom II X4 910 has higher Level 3 Cache. This is useful when you have substantial multiprocessing workloads, many computationally intense simultaneous processes. More likely on a server, less on a personally used computer for interactive desktop workloads.
  • The Phenom II X4 910 has more cores. The benefit of having more cores is that the system can handle more threads. Each core can handle a separate stream of data. This architecture greatly increases the performance of a system that is running concurrent applications.
i3-2102
  • For some games, a cpu with a higher clock speed, or in a technical name IPC (Instructions per clock), has better results than other CPU's with higher core count and lower core speed.
  • The i3-2102 is more power efficient and generates less heat.
  • The i3-2102 has a smaller process size. The faster a transistor can toggle on and off, the faster it can do work. And transistors that turn on and off with less energy are more efficient, reducing the operating power, or “dynamic power consumption,” required by a processor.

The only Phenom II CPU that can be unlocked to a 6 core is the 960T, Your CPU is pretty much stuck at what it is unfortunately.

Phenom ii x4 910 and R9 270XI have a friend with a pre-built PC he got for very cheap. He wants to play Fallout 4 when it comes out, but his current GPU is very old and definitely won't handle it. I have a spare r9 270x and 500w power supply I could give to him to boost his performance. However, I am worried the CPU is not good enough, and he will experience FPS drops and such. Obviously, Fallout 4 isn't out yet, so there's no way to know for sure (although they do state a slightly more powerful, Phenom ii x4 945 as minimum req.). In summary, can a Phenom ii x4 910 CPU handle any modern games when paired with a decent GPU?

i use a phenom x4 9750 paired with a r7 240 and i can play most tiltles on low or medium settings. your cpu is an AM3 socket and mines is AM2+ your cpu is one generation ahead of mines so in therory it should be able to handle fallout 4 on maybe medium settings UPDATE: your system probarly uses DD3 memory, mines uses DDR2 so i think youll be able to play it

Athlon IIx4 605e VS. Phenom IIx4 910eFor a difference of about $50 in price (Athlon $80, Phenom $130), the Athlon IIx4 seems like a good upgrade, but it lacks L3 Cache. The Phenom IIx4 however has 6mb L3 cache. What is the advantage of the Phenom IIx4 over the Athlon IIx4? Thank You

http://cpuboss.com/cpus/AMD-Phenom-II-X4-910e-vs-AMD-Athlon-II-X4-605eThe phenom is slightly better overall, but probably not $50 better.
