Should I go Z97 or H97 with an Intel i5-4690s?Yeah I know the i5-4690k is unlocked and has a higher base clock (3.5 GHz vs 3.2 GHz), but in all honesty I'm looking for a power efficient (and quiet) system. Additionally, both processors share the same turbo clock at 3.9 GHz.Anyway, regardless of chipset, I'm looking for a clean looking motherboard (I love the look of the Hero VII and Sabertooth z97 Mk 1) ... However, can I use the Sabertooth if I don't intend to install any of Asus' software? In all honesty, I just want a good looking board that is stable and provides an Intel NIC, I'd also like some mid-board USB headers.Asus is really the only manufacturer that I've looked into. I'm hoping you guys can point me in the right direction. I'd like to save some money by going H97 if possible.

      I like this MB.GIGABYTE GA-H97M-D3Hhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128718For a small board, it packs a punch.

I5 4690k vs 4690sSo I guess the best intel i5 CPU you can get would be the 4690 or 4690k (I think anyway) but then I saw the 4690s? What is the difference, it looks just about the same? But which one should I get, I might overclock in the future so then I would need the 4690k, but in your opinion which one should I get. Also is overclocking worth it? Will it give me a good performance boost? Also, I am using this in a gaming pc with a gtx 770.

The i5-4690K. The 4690S is a low power CPU.Overclocking is a good performance boost if you need it because your CPU is bottlenecking the GPU, but that won't happen, so don't worry about it.

i5 4690 vs i5 4690S.... Whats the difference? Both of these processors have the same turbo frequency (3.9Ghz), but the i5 4690S is clocked lower without turbo (3.2Ghz vs 3.5Ghz). Is there any reason I shouldn't buy the i5 4690S? I plan on gaming with this processor, and don't see any reason to spend more on the i5 4690.Here is the i5 4690: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116989Here is the i5 4690S: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116990

The 4690S is directly comparable in performance to the 4460 CPU with the only difference being power consumption. The 4690 and 4690S are the same CPU with the voltage and clock speed lowered on the 4690S to reduce power consumption. This does reduce performance, of course. The 4690S is about 10% slower (and less performing) than the 4690.If you do not have air conditioning, the 4690S will run cooler (as will any S series CPU). As such it can be a better choice then. You can also use a third party cooler like the Cooler Master Hyper TX3 or Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus to help remove the heat from the CPU (if you do not have air conditioning), otherwise the stock cooler will work fine.

i5 4670 3.4GHz or i5 4690S 3.2GHz?Hello, as stated in the title, the store I'm buying pc parts from has the i5 4670 3.4GHz and i5 4690S 3.2GHz at identical prices. AFAIK the 4690S is a newer version than the 4670. Which one should I get? The store doesn't have a 4690 (simple, without the S). I also don't plan on overclocking, but the store has an i5 4670K 3.4GHz and an i5 4690K 3.5GHz that are within my budget limit.Which one should I get?Thank you!

okay ill offer you bit more than xproyect both processors are good and they are both the same kind of, although the 4670 is just 4th generation i5 processor with no prefix these prefixes have a meaning K - unlockedR - Desktop processor based on BGA1364 (mobile) package with high performance graphics S - Performance-optimized lifestyleT - Power-optimized lifestyle so if i was you i have intentions to overclock go for k sereis if you are worried about power and stuff like that the T is the way to gothe is S is more like sport mode for processors doesnt mean its the best but its optimized better than non-prefixed processors never forget that the 4690 is devil canyon which is haswell refresh better thermal interface doesnt get high temperatures my advice is to save the money and go for intel i5 4690k to save yourself from future processor change
