The Pentium D's are dual core. You linked to a Pentium 4(which is single core). But the Core 2 duo is still quite a bit faster.http://ark.intel.com/products/27520/Intel-Pentium-D-Processor-945-4M-Cache-3_40-GHz-800-MHz-FSB

Core 2 Duo E6300 for 945g ChipsetI have an OEM Mobo(Alioth 50 r1.09g)Desktop:Samsung Magic Station DB-Z58(http://www.samsung.com/sec/support/model/DB-Z58/T341G-downloads?downloadName=DR)(Use Google Translate) Core 2 Duo requires VRM 11.0(I dont know my VRM revision). My bios is 12/04/2006(latest)(First bios was also 2006,can't remember) and the Core 2 duo was released 7/27/2006.Will it work with an unknown vrm revision and a bios of 12/4/2006?

Very close to that, yes. Not exactly since the only difference between the Pentium 4 5xx and 6xx was that the 6xx series supports 64bit instructions so you can use a 64bit OS. I think the Pentium D 8xx chips are 2 x Pentium 4 6xx chips on the same die and the Pentium D 9xx series was a slight update. All of them use the old Intel Netburst architecture though. And Netburst was not very good even when new. That was back when AMD made a faster CPU.

That MB supports E6700. The X6800 is an unlocked 2 core 65nm. It should recognize it. The Dell E520 in my sig. officially supports up to Q6700, but The QX6800 runs just fine. The BIOS won't let you OC, but the program I mentioned will. http://valid.x86.fr/top-cpu/496e74656c28522920436f726528544d29322045787472656d652043505520513638303020204020322e393347487aThat's my 2005 Dell in 3rd spothttp://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-2897377/overclocking-dell-btx-computers.html

Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Or Intel Pentium D 805Hy everyone I appreciate your time for reading this.I need help since mainly my pc is used to play league of legends which is not so demanding pc game and I currently have Intel Core 2 Duo E 6300 in it which is 1.8GhZ and I was wondering since the Intel Pentium D 805 has 2.6 clock should I use it instead for overall windows 7 performance?I also have 3 GB ddr2 RAM.I know that Core 2 Duo is better for most things and many people recommended me to overclock it to 2.4 but I cant since it overheats really fast and goes up to 62°C on idle when I put it on 2.4 ghz on my intel stock cooler. Thanks for your time

The Core 2 is better, as its a faster (by 5 to 10x) and cooler design then the Pentium D, its also newer, so it has a bunch of newer features that help in day-to-day usage.
