      i5 7640x its almost the same as the 7600k only different socket and no igpu, both i5 7640x and i7 7740x are not worth it imo, if you are going x299 platform the only cpus that takes advantage of the "upgrade" are i7 7800x, i7 7820x and i9 7900x. the other 2 cpus will be expensive to consider them a place holder.

      It's only 4 threads, that's the main issue. It isn't beating the i5s, that's false, it's still behind by a fair margin, but it'll last much longer in terms of lifespan, since games are quickly becoming even more multi-threaded, especially with DX12.Still keeps up too.@siddhartha mudgal, the 1600 has 6 cores with AMD's version of Hyperthreading @ 3.2GHz and a better cooler, and the 1500X is 4 cores 8 threads @3.5GHz.With a b350 board both can easily be OC'd to 3.8GHz, or even 3.9-4GHz if you get a good chip.

      need mobo for Intel Core i5-7640Xanyone can recomend me mobo ? i need one witch allows me to OC cpu and has 2 pcie slots so i can put 2x 1060 3 gb alredy have one. i dont know if it is posible but with ddr3 and ddr4 ram support so i dont have to buy rams now and i can add ddr4 later
