i3-4370
  • The i3-4370 has more threads. Larger programs are divided into threads (small sections) so that the processor can execute them simultaneously to get faster execution.
  • For some games, a cpu with a higher clock speed, or in a technical name IPC (Instructions per clock), has better results than other CPU's with higher core count and lower core speed.
  • The i3-4370 is more power efficient and generates less heat.
  • The i3-4370 has a smaller process size. The faster a transistor can toggle on and off, the faster it can do work. And transistors that turn on and off with less energy are more efficient, reducing the operating power, or “dynamic power consumption,” required by a processor.
Phenom II X2 B55
  • The Phenom II X2 B55 has higher Level 2 Cache. Data/instructions which have to be processed can be loaded from the fast L2 and the CPU does not have to wait for the very slow DDR RAM
  • The Phenom II X2 B55 has higher Level 3 Cache. This is useful when you have substantial multiprocessing workloads, many computationally intense simultaneous processes. More likely on a server, less on a personally used computer for interactive desktop workloads.

i3 4370 vs i5-4690KWell im getting a gaming pc but im really stumped on which processor to get. Ive heard that a majority of old rts games (which i will mostly be playing) for example supreme commander, medieval 2 total war, command and conquer generals etc... Use only 1 one core. So i would like to know which processor would be the best for playing rts games and allowing the max number of units with little to no lag?

Those aren't terribly demanding games. I feel confident in saying you will be plenty happy with the i3 for those games.

Will the i3-4370 bottleneck the GTX 970?Just what the title says. I'm considering upgrading my CPU soon and wondering if this will be a decent, budget choice (Micro Center deal makes it cheaper). Here's the CPU on Intel's site.

You can always pick a few select games for any build and say yes the GPU or CPU will be a bottle neck but for overall performance and the price that's a good processor (what 3.8GHz)Although as above I would try to spend a few extra bucks on at least the i5 4570.For a single 1080p monitor the 970 is just killer performance wise.

I3 4370 OR I5 3570k For ITX BuildI am build a small ITX computer, I am going to be using the I5 OEM cooler or similar for cooler.I already own both the I5 3570K and a I3 4370 but, I cant decide which to use for the CPU. I will be using discrete graphics and more than likely the highest-end GPU will be a GTX 750 ti. It is what fits my budget. For RAM it will be 8GBs of DDR3. Hard drive will either be an SSD or SSHD just depending on which is easier to free up. I will be playing games, I mostly play Star Craft 2 or other RTS games, and the occasional Guild Wars 2. I have enough PSU to handle either set up. For Mobo the I5 3570K is a GIGABYTE GA-Z77N-WIFIFor the I3 4370 I have a ASRock H97M-ITXFor the I3 the mobo allows for a larger cooler,

Click the 2nd blue box in my signature to see my i3-4130 750ti system and you can make some judgements there. The i3 won't need a big cooler, the stock cooler will be fine.

i3 4370 or FX-8000 Series?Hi,I'm going to build a new coputer mainly for gaming, web browsing, HD Video and maybe some video rendering (but the last one's not going to be often). So here I am with the decision: Intel or AMD?I know a good amount about computers and components, but I just want the community's opinion:Stronger Intel cores but fewer of them, or more AMD cores that are weaker.Just to say again, I will be mostly gaming (CS:GO, GTA V, Battlefield One, Starwars Battlefront, Firewatch- Mainly open world or FPS games...)I'd like to run these games over 40 FPS at medium-high settings...Here's what my system will be like:So,what's your opinion? I'd love to hear. Thanks!

Ok, knowing now that you already have some of those parts, any 4th gen i3 would be fine for you. I would literally get the cheapest 4th gen i3 and probably a B85 or H97 motherboard.

Go with the intel option, I am no intel fan boy, but in the future if you wish to upgrade, you have better options with an intel processor.
