Athlon II X2 240
    i3-8300
    • The i3-8300 has higher Level 2 Cache. Data/instructions which have to be processed can be loaded from the fast L2 and the CPU does not have to wait for the very slow DDR RAM
    • The i3-8300 has more cores. The benefit of having more cores is that the system can handle more threads. Each core can handle a separate stream of data. This architecture greatly increases the performance of a system that is running concurrent applications.
    • The i3-8300 has more threads. Larger programs are divided into threads (small sections) so that the processor can execute them simultaneously to get faster execution.
    • For some games, a cpu with a higher clock speed, or in a technical name IPC (Instructions per clock), has better results than other CPU's with higher core count and lower core speed.
    • The i3-8300 is more power efficient and generates less heat.
    • The i3-8300 has a smaller process size. The faster a transistor can toggle on and off, the faster it can do work. And transistors that turn on and off with less energy are more efficient, reducing the operating power, or “dynamic power consumption,” required by a processor.

AMD Athlon ii X2 240 TempsSo I am using an AMD Athlon ii X2 240 in my server and its in a shed. What would the lowest temp the CPU should be ran at. It is 56 Fahrenheit right now out side and the CPU is idle at 17 degrees Celsius. The lowest it has reached in the past week is 6 degrees Celsius. Then it averages 14.4 Degrees Celsius. Is that good or should I move it inside to a climate controlled environment.

I don't think the CPU will be affected by low temps, but other parts of the PC might. If it gets near freezing in the shed, some motor/bearing lubricants in fans might gum up. And if the humidity fluctuates with rising and dropping temps, moister will form... also not good. It might be best to move it to a controlled climate area. Or put a space heater in the shed that has thermostat control.

It depends on your game. If u play games that are GPU-demanded like Crysis Series or Battlefield Series, your CPU wouldn't be a problem at all. But if your games are CPU or both CPU/GPU demanded, like the Far Cry or the coming GTA 5, I don't think your CPU could handle it, unless u change your CPU or try to overclock it to say 4.0Ghz or higher.(Don't know if your coller could handle it) Or, since your CPU is an AM3 type, u may better get a new Athlon X4 CPU (there is one which is on sale in newegg.com priced $79). I always appreciate an entry quad-core CPU plus a mid-high GPU (like HD 7850/HD 6850 or GTX 560/GTX 660).

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/battlefield-3-graphics-performance,3063-3.htmlPlease, enlighten me. Of course, it doesn't perform as well as current or last-gen hardware, but to say it struggles is an exaggeration.

Yes, at low settings. If you have a decent graphics card it will help.
