Is it worth upgrading my i5-4460 gaming pc?I have an older gaming pc that I want to either upgrade or get a new pc, heres the parts list:i5-4460 (3.2ghz/3.4ghz boost, haswell)Asus B85M-G motherboardKingston Hyperx fury blue 8gb ram525w Extreme 2 ATX cooler master PSUMSI gtx 660ti 3gbI am considering purchasing a msi 1070ti 8gb card and a new power supply with the compatible cables.Would it be worth upgrading? Would there be a lot of bottlenecking? or possibly a faster haswell CPU with the same socket as well?I would be using it for 1080p gaming for now and want to get a higher resolution monitor/vr in the future.Saving for a completely new build would also be an option.Thank you very much for any advice, It is greatly appreciated!

You could look for a used i7 4770 as an upgrade, just don't pay more then 120 for one, and if you can try and talk it down to 80 or 90 bucks. Anyone that is trying to tell you its worth more doesn't seem to realize the lowest i3 8th gen is on par with it and that DDR3 is obsolete. Now if you wanna upgrade you could get a i5-8400 or even a Ryzen 2600 right now or just wait and see for the 9th gen intel to come out and see what they are like. But with either you'll have to buy DDR4 RAM which for 8gb will be around 100 USD.For your power supply Seasonic FOCUS Gold are really good and their prices are usually super competitive. Id recommend a 550 watt.

Upgrade from i5 4460 to i7 4790kI currently am running an i5 4460 and looking to upgrade, but I do not have the funds to go to a completely new platform (mobo, CPU & RAM) so I need to stay on the LGA 1150. Is the upgrade to an i7 4790k worth it? I'll be playing games @ 2560x1080 60hz 1080p on a GTX 1080. I'd be buying it used so the prices aren't insane. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

If you cap the fps to 60fps to your monitor's refresh rate then don't really need an i7. If you were to have a 144Hz monitor then the i5 will bottleneck the 1080, in which case i7 will make a significant difference with it's Hyperthreads. More fps = more load on cpu.

i5-4570s vs i5-4460?Hi,I was just given both of these processors and I only need 1 for my build. To give an idea of the platform I'm building on, I also have a Z97 mobo, a GTX 970, and an 850w psu. Which will be better to use? Thanks

My reasoning is that it beeing an S may have it behave differently, even if not because of TDP. But you're right, not real easy to find info.Agreed on general perfromance though. OP, just get whichever. They are the same for all practical intents and purposes.

There is a very small difference in games between those 2 CPUs.Any of those CPUs won't bottleneck the 970 , so you can go with the cheaper solution, the I5-4460.

i5 4460 vs i5 7500So a little bit of a background. I want to be able to stream newer pc games like Quake champions. I have a i5 4460 3.2ghz. And a mother board that may need swapping to. I currently am running a Geforce 960 at 4gb. Anyways the issue I think im having is that while streaming games like quake, it slows down to unplayable levels even in its lowest setting. I have 12gb ddr3 ram. so before I spend the money i want to make sure it is what I need. The 7500 has a 19% performance rating over the 4460. Generally better but seems very small margin wise.Looking for reccommendations. thanks.

If you go to a newer processor, you will need a new motherboard, processor, and ram. What is your current budget? The i7 4790k offers a significant upgrade over the 4460, and would work with everything else on your current system, so it may be worth looking into just getting the new processor vs an entire system upgrade.
