Core2 Duo E6400
  • The Core2 Duo E6400 is more power efficient and generates less heat.
Ryzen Threadripper 2950X
  • The Ryzen Threadripper 2950X has higher Level 2 Cache. Data/instructions which have to be processed can be loaded from the fast L2 and the CPU does not have to wait for the very slow DDR RAM
  • The Ryzen Threadripper 2950X has more cores. The benefit of having more cores is that the system can handle more threads. Each core can handle a separate stream of data. This architecture greatly increases the performance of a system that is running concurrent applications.
  • The Ryzen Threadripper 2950X has more threads. Larger programs are divided into threads (small sections) so that the processor can execute them simultaneously to get faster execution.
  • For some games, a cpu with a higher clock speed, or in a technical name IPC (Instructions per clock), has better results than other CPU's with higher core count and lower core speed.
  • The Ryzen Threadripper 2950X has a higher turbo clock boost. Turbo Boost is a CPU feature that will run CPU clock speed faster than its base clock, if certain conditions are present. It will enable older software that runs on fewer cores, to perform better on newer hardware. Since games are software too, it is also applicable to them.
  • The Ryzen Threadripper 2950X has a smaller process size. The faster a transistor can toggle on and off, the faster it can do work. And transistors that turn on and off with less energy are more efficient, reducing the operating power, or “dynamic power consumption,” required by a processor.

Can Core 2 Duo E6400 + 2 GB run 1080P movies?HiIs the E6400 with 2 gb 800mhz good enough for smooth 1080p movies, using Kodi and PCT/mkv mostly. No GPU on 1920x1080Or would a Pentium Dual Core E2220 2.4 Ghz do better? Can get both for almost nothing to fit on my old motherboard.

It would play 4K even, provided you had a good modern GPU and plenty of RAM, a friends of mines HTPC is an old Athlon 64 Single core socket 754, 2GHz. built of scrap parts and a new case and GPU (something along these lines; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133532) and 4GB RAM and hes playing 4K through his sony TV just fine. so yes your plenty fine especially at ol' 1080P

Core2Duo E6400 VS Pentium E5300So, I currently have a Core 2 Duo E6400 in an old dell Optiplex 745 computer that is used for basic tasks, However I have managed to buy a Pentium E5300 for £1.65, Will this Pentium at all be an upgrade to me?The Also only has 1gb of DDR2 at the moment and uses the integrated graphics when it is occasionally plugged into a display. Thanks for the help in advance!!

An upgrade? Maybe a little bit.For $2, try it.But the 1GB RAM and the integrated graphics seriously limit what you might see as an 'upgrade'.

E6400 core 2 duo and Gtx 750 ti bottleneck?Would games be playable at 60 fps with low settings?

Of course. You'll have to be on point with what is running in the background on your Windows. Look up what graphic settings are CPU dependent. Anything the GPU does by itself, like textures, crank up higher.

Upgrade from Core 2 Duo E6400 To Q6600I have been wanting to upgrade my cpu because it has been bottlenecking my gpu (Not gonna say what it is otherwise people wil mock me XD). My current cpu is a core 2 duo e6400 which has a tdp of 65 W but i want to upgrade to a q6600 which has a tdp of 105W and i have a dell dimension 9200 from 2007 and i am wondering if i could use the same heatsink that came with it (it is huge) and if i can use the same fan which came with it? Please reply as soon as possible.

Dell has a proprietary heatsink that is not changeable. You will have to stay with what you have as far as the heatsink goes. However, you can (and should) add a fan at the rear to assist the air flow of the heatsink fan. You will notice a nice performance increase going from the Duo to the Quad.Along with this change, check whether you can add RAM if necessary and run the max that the motherboard will allow.

My Q6600 @ 2.6 GHz Bottlenecks the 4850 in battlefield 3 , so yeah at battlefield 3 it will , but any other game , it will run great at a lower resolution like 1366x768 or 1400x900 , at high. Whereas for any other game which does not require 4 threads , it will run great , any game before 2013 will go great , my rig can even handle bioshock infinite @ 1366x768 maxed with 50 - 60 fps. So if money is an issue (like me ) go get that core 2 duo for 45 $ UPDATE : Yes @ 1280x1024 , latest and older games , 1920 x 1080 , old games , yes , new NO
