GTX 1070, i5 2310 for 1080p 60 fpsSo i have a choice to either get the gtx 1060 for 300 $ or 1070 for 380$. I really want to get the gtx 1070 because its quite cheap, but my gpu is i5 2310 so i know there will be quite a bit of bottlenecking. Ill be only wanting to play games at 1080p 60 fps (that may change in the future) So will the gtx 1070 be able to provide that with the i5 2310. I'll be upgrading my cpu in around 6 months maybe, probably even sooner. i want this card to last for over 3 years so is it worth getting it or should i just go with the gtx 1060.

I'd argue even with your current CPU that isn't a huge bottleneck going with the GTX 1070. Sandybridge CPUs are still quite capable for gaming. I run one myself with 2 GTX 1080s for a 4K build. Granted your 2.9ghz base speed isn't ideal but if you plan on a CPU upgrade in the next 6 months it won't be an issue for long. Get the GTX 1070 now. While some games like BF1, Watch Dogs 2, ROTTR, Witcher 3, GTA V, Ghost recon Wildlands and a few others might cause some bottlenecking issues they will be alleviated in a matter of months. And the rest of the games out there that don't use 8-16 threads won't even be an issue with your current i5.

One has copper core, other aluminium core.CM thunder 450 will run GTX 1050 ti - no problem. But with Asus hd7790 you might be getting close to PSU limits. This PSU is essentially mislabeled 360W unit. hd7790 draws 90W-150W and is recommended to be used with at least 430W PSU.

From i5 2310 to i7 4790Current SpecsCPU: i5 2310Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3HRam: Corsair DDR3-1600 16GB (8x2)Video Card : Zotac Geforce 950 AMP EditionStorage : Samsung 750 EVO 250gb WB 2TBPSU - Cooler Master Thunder 500WI use this rig mainly for video editing and 3D Animation. To render a 13min 1080p file using media encoder takes about 8-10hours mainly because i work with drones, motion graphics, after effects element 3D features and there will be about 7+ Video layers and 5+ Audio layers or so, with heavy use on LUTS on one work file. I do game on it when its not rendering.Should I get a i7 4790 with ASUS MOTHERBOARD Z97-A or go for the skylake series? My budget is around Rs 36,000 which comes up to $550

i5 2310 for gamingHi,My friend asked me to upgrade his PC to run games like GTA V, FC4, AC:U, The division and so on. He currently has a 7750 and a i5 2310. He will be buying a used R9 280x from a friend. His motherboard will be replaced so it can handle better ram, he currently had 4gigs 665mhz. Will the i5 2310 be enough to run such games? He doesn't want to buy a new CPU if he doesn't have to.

A better graphics card will be a good upgrade. The i5-2310 is a bit old, but still excellent. What is the motherboard?Whatever the motherboard do not replace it if it is working.4gb of ram is usually sufficient. If the os is 64 bit capable, then 8gb is better. But, intel chips have an outstanding ram controller. It anticipates ram need and keeps the cpu fed with data from any speed ram. 665 will be 1333 in dual channel mode.Read this:http://www.anandtech.com/show/4503/sandy-bridge-memory-scaling-choosing-the-best-ddr3

Worry about it when you get there. It isn't as if games were going to break on you overnight - modern CPUs have not improved enough since yours for game developers to go on that steep of a processing requirement hill.
