Core2 Extreme X6800
    Pentium G3250
    • The Pentium G3250 has higher Level 2 Cache. Data/instructions which have to be processed can be loaded from the fast L2 and the CPU does not have to wait for the very slow DDR RAM
    • For some games, a cpu with a higher clock speed, or in a technical name IPC (Instructions per clock), has better results than other CPU's with higher core count and lower core speed.
    • The Pentium G3250 is more power efficient and generates less heat.
    • The Pentium G3250 has a smaller process size. The faster a transistor can toggle on and off, the faster it can do work. And transistors that turn on and off with less energy are more efficient, reducing the operating power, or “dynamic power consumption,” required by a processor.

Core 2 Extreme x6800 and GTX 560 TiI have an old system I was able to put together for free, and I had a question about putting in a GTX 560 TI. I have a Core 2 Extreme x6800 and I was wondering if I would get any bottlenecking if I put in a GTX 560 TI? I have googled this over and over and haven't found much so I thought I'd ask here and see what you all say Thanks in advance!

Hi i have a QX6850 EXTREME overclocked in the bios from 3.0 ghz to 3.67 ghz and 8 gigs of ddr2 ram and an 860 sli motherboard and i dropped in a ASUS GeForce GTX 660 DirectCU II OC 2GB GDDR5 which totally improved my gaming ability, i play world of tanks and i had 2 gtx 8800 in sli mode and could only play in low mode in the standard graphic mode, now i can play in the improved mode with most of everything running at maximum, also our cpu,s are nearly the same so i think you will good to go, also i am sure that its not being bottlenecked by my cpu cos while i am gaming my gpu is running at 100%....i have just posted a question asking if i bought another gtx 660 and ran in sli mode would i see even more gains or would i be asking to much of my cpu...

You may need to update the BIOS on your computer before you can use that CPU. However, the e8400 should be equal if not better than the x6800. Anyways, go here and select your OS and go to the BIOS tab and download the latest version. Here: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/optiplex-960/drivers
